Liposomal Curcumin

Curcumin is not the same as turmeric, but the two are closely related. Turmeric is a bright yellow spice made from the root of the Curcuma longa plant and is commonly used in cooking, especially in Indian and Southeast Asian cuisine. Curcumin is the primary active compound found within turmeric and is responsible for many of its health benefits, particularly its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Turmeric root contains a number of compounds called curcuminoids, and curcumin is the most studied and potent of these. However, turmeric itself only contains about 2–8% curcumin by weight, which means that to get therapeutic effects, concentrated curcumin extracts or supplements are often used.

In short: turmeric is the whole root, while curcumin is the key active ingredient within it that delivers most of the medicinal properties.

Sabinsa Curcumin C3 Complex® is obtained from the dried rhizomes of Curcuma longa (Turmeric) and standardized for minimum 95% Curcuminoids. The name C3 Complex® has reference to its three main chemical compounds - Curcumin, Demethoxycurcumin (DMC) and Bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDMC), collectively known as “Curcuminoids”.

The best time of day to take curcumin largely depends on your health goals and how your body responds. Using a liposomal curcumin, the absorption is already enhanced so consuming your dose with food is not necessary.
