Yes, when given in appropriate amounts and in a child-friendly form, magnesium can be a safe and beneficial supplement for children. Magnesium plays a vital role in a child’s growth and development, supporting brain function, muscle health, energy production and relaxation. lipolife® use magnesium bisglycinate, a gentle and highly absorbable form known for its excellent tolerance and calming properties.

Not all forms of magnesium are suitable, especially when it comes to children. Some types, like magnesium oxide, have poor absorption and can cause digestive discomfort. Others, such as magnesium citrate, may have a laxative effect at higher doses.

For children, the best choice is magnesium bisglycinate. This form is bound to the amino acid glycine, making it both highly bioavailable and gentle on the stomach. It’s also known for its calming properties, making it especially helpful for supporting relaxation, focus and restful sleep.

Magnesium can play a valuable role in supporting better sleep in children. It helps regulate neurotransmitters that calm the brain and nervous system, making it easier for children to unwind and fall asleep more easily.

The form of magnesium matters, magnesium bisglycinate is one of the most effective types for promoting relaxation and restful sleep. It's bonded with glycine, a naturally calming amino acid known to support sleep quality. Together, this combination can help ease bedtime restlessness and support a more settled night.

The best time to give magnesium to children depends on the reason for supplementation. For general support, like energy, mood or muscle health, magnesium can be taken any time of day.

If you're using magnesium to support relaxation or sleep, giving it in the late afternoon or early evening may be most beneficial.
